In 1992 Medline Scientific was founded by Mark Duffy, with the desire to build an organisation that would provide the latest scientific equipment and laboratory supplies to the scientific industry.
The journey began in a small workshop in Oxfordshire with one owner and a single employee. Thirty years and two moves later, Medline Scientific is a thriving brand within the Calibre Scientific family: a portfolio of brands with the unrivalled ability to address the unique challenges of their respective markets.
After spending several years in scientific supplies sales—both domestic and export—Mark embarked on a mission to build a company focused on customer service that could supply scientific organisations with the latest technology and exclusive, highly competitive product ranges. The first of these exclusive brands was DeltaLab: one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of single-use labware.
With Mark’s experience in global supply chains, other exclusive brands soon followed including Ceti and Jeio Tech (1998), RBS, Infrico, PreciPoint, Trajan (pathology supplies) and, most recently, Stirling Ultracold (2021). Over the years, Medline Scientific enjoyed much success with Ceti’s range of high-quality, affordable microscopes. So, in 2003, Medline Scientific acquired Ceti from their European owners and microscopes have continued to be an area of expertise for Medline Scientific ever since.
Although Medline Scientific started life in distribution, in 2013 the company expanded its remit and established its UK field sales team. This growth enabled the team to deliver its much-valued technical expertise direct to scientists and industrial professionals. Soon after, Medline Scientific extended its capabilities again with the addition of a dedicated Services Team to offer customers complete solutions and enhanced after-sales care.
In 2020, the world found itself in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the last two years, the team at Medline Scientific is proud to have supported the UK Government with its response to the global pandemic through the provision of swabs for NHS testing and hosing for the UK Ventilator Challenge project.
The latest exciting chapter of Medline Scientific’s story began on the final day of 2021, when it joined Calibre Scientific. Calibre Scientific represents a portfolio of life science, diagnostic, and distribution companies passionate about supporting scientists as they overcome today’s scientific challenges to create a better tomorrow.
Today, Medline Scientific works with national and international manufacturers to offer premium, market-leading brands and cost-effective alternatives. These partners include Liebherr, Priorclave, Hettich, Julabo, Olympus, Jeio Tech, Lec Medical, CoolLed, A&D Instruments, and Grant, to name but a few. With a growing number of scientific organisations striving to improve their sustainability and reduce their carbon footprint, the team at Medline Scientific recently introduced a portfolio of sustainable solutions, both products and services, to support these customers. Recent ISO 13485:2016 certification (Medical devices—Quality management systems) demonstrates Medline Scientific’s continued commitment to quality.
As Medline Scientific has grown and evolved over the last three decades, it has remained true to its roots: to deliver innovative solutions and great customer service to customers across all scientific industry sectors.
