These biodegradable laboratory gloves are safe for medical use and food handling, making them suitable for a variety of lab and industry applications.
Manufactured using an enzymatic biodegradable technology, which kickstarts the biodegradation process when in active landfill environments. During long-term ASTM testing, the biodegradable gloves showed 90% biodegradation in 490 days*, whereas regular nitrile gloves were found to take over 100 years. The unique formulation of the glove only allows the biodegradation process to begin when surrounded by microbes present in an active landfill environment, so no need to worry about your gloves while they are on the shelf**.
How does the biodegradable technology work?
The biodegradable technology is incorporated into the manufacturing process, using a polymerised ‘food source’, which is an organic additive used to accelerate the biodegradation rate of gloves in biologically active landfills and anaerobic digesters. Bacteria is attracted to this food source, and secretes an enzyme which depolymerises polymer chains, allowing microorganisms to break down any remaining polymers within the glove.
Further to this, the unique formulation of the glove only allows the biodegradation process to begin when surrounded by microbes present in an active landfill environment! Implementing this technology during the manufacturing process offers a sustainable solution for the scientist without compromising the quality of the glove.
The ambidextrous gloves are latex and powder free, and are medical grade 1.5 AQL. They incorporate a beaded cuff to assist with easy donning and prevent roll-down while wearing. The texture on the fingers delivers reliable and consistent grip.
