New chromatography columns and resins
We are excited to announce that Medline Scientific can now support our customers with a comprehensive range of chromatography columns and resins from UK manufacturer, Protein Ark.
Chromatography columns
Protein Ark has over 25 years of chromatography experience and manufactures columns suitable for all protein purification requirements. Products include:
- Pre-packed HiFliQ FPLC affinity columns (1ml and 5ml)
- Empty FliQ FPLC columns (1ml, 5ml, and 10ml)
- Batch incubation spin columns
- Gel filtration and size exclusion columns
FliQ FPLC columns
We can offer both empty (FliQ) and pre-packed (HiFliQ) FPLC chromatography columns suitable for protein purification from Protein Ark.
The Proteus FliQ FPLC Columns are suitable for 1 to 10 ml resin volume and offer a simple packing procedure. The Universal 10-32 UNF thread is compatible with all standard chromatography instruments (including the AKTA systems from GE Healthcare).
The pre-packed Proteus 1ml and 5ml HiFliQ FPLC Affinity Columns are designed for easy purification of recombinant proteins and antibodies. The very high performance resins e.g. Heparin, Ni-NTA agarose, Co-NTA agarose, Glutatione Agarose, Protein A Agarose and Protein G Agarose deliver reliable and robust separation every time.
Batch incubation spin columns
Proteus ‘1-Step Batch’ Mini Spin Columns are ideal for small scale protein purifications (expression trials, solubility determination tests, screening, titering and scouting studies). SelfSeal™ membrane technology retains both the resin and sample in the batch incubation chamber while binding. Upon centrifuging the pores of the SelfSeal™ membrane open allowing the sample to be eluted yet retraining the resin bead for perfect separation and recovery. Suitable for sample volumes up to 0.6ml.
For larger sample volumes of up to 20ml, Medline Scientific can now offer Protein Ark’s Proteus ‘1-Step Batch’ Midi Plus Spin Columns. This range enables customers to batch mix their filtered or unclarified sample with their resin of choice, and then wash and elute the purified, concentrated protein in small volumes. Benefits include: no resin carry-over to downstream analyses, negligible hold-up volume and no requirement to transfer samples/resin slurries. Since the device is contained, the ‘1-Step Batch’ Midi Plus Spin Columns are ideal for biohazardous samples and those from infectious sources.
Both Mini and Midi columns incorporate SelfSeal™ membrane technology which prevents leakage into the collection tube.
Proteus pre-packed spin column kits
Suitable for sample volumes up to 650µl, the Proteus Mini Purification Spin Columns are suitable for small scale protein purifications (expression trials, solubility determination tests, screening, tittering and scouting studies) and fit all standard microcentrifuges.
For rapid removal of free detergents micelles and complete detergent exchange, we can now offer the Proteus Detergent Anion & Cation Exchange (DetEx) Mini Spin Columns. The D-Type anion exchange spin columns are ideal for membrane proteins with pI <7-8 in complex with non-ionic or zwitterionic detergents. Whereas, the C-Type cation exchange columns are optimised for membrane proteins with pI >7-8. These spin columns offer simple (only requiring a microfuge) and effective removal/exchange – perfect for applications negatively impacted by interference with excess detergents such as ELISA, IEF, MS and NMR.
Protein Ark also offers convenient single step columns that enable multiple samples to be purified in parallel with high reproducibility and rapid purification of antibodies or 6xHis-tagged recombinant proteins. The unique flow regulator controls flow rate during centrifugation (close to 1ml/min). Customers benefit from the speed of a spin column along with the yield and purity of the gravity column method. The Proteus IMAC Spin Column Kit enables quick purification of His-tagged fusion proteins. Proteus Protein A & G Spin Column Kits and Proteus Protein A & G Vacuum Column Kits (no centrifugation step) are available for antibody purification.
Chromatography resin
Protein Ark’s range of high-performance Super Resins and Fastback Resins include Ni-NTA, Co-NTA, Ni-Adv, IMAC, Super-Glu, Protein A, Protein G and Heparin chemistries. They offer high selective binding capacity and the choice of bead size (35µm and 90µm).
